Stitches

It has happened---- The boy got stitches!! He was in the shower and slipped and fell on the way out hitting his head.  His head hit the metal edge of the shower leaving a little gash.  I was unsure if he needed stitches or not even though I do that for a living. So I called Daddy who was at work and sent him pictures of the gash and Daddy came home.  We took him the the ER ( a free standing ER near our house--which was great--no wait)----- here our photos from our trip

The gash!! About 10 minutes after the fall he was in a good mood again, this is him at home waiting for Daddy to get there so we can go
Emma got to come too!! She was awake the whole time laughing and then right before the stitches she fell asleep and slept through Ryan screaming the whole time and then she woke up in time to go home.  What a great sister!!!
Sitting in the bed, poor thing had no clue what was about to happen.
Playing with gloves while we waited for them to setup.  Now I have no pictures of the procedure because I had to be a good mom and hold my child down!! Plus Mike said no photos during the procedure!! Ryan screamed the entire time--wow he is strong he was wiggling the entire time even with three of us holding him and the doctor stitching.  But in the end he really did well.
The final picture on the way home.  The wound is closed with four stitches.  Ryan's eyes were soo puffy from crying the whole time, and then we got home and he slept.  The best part about the event is Daddy's chief/ captain said he didnt have to go back to work so we got him home on an unexpected day.  I am sure this is not the last time that I will go to the ER with this child.  The best is this morning he wanted to get in the shower again but we decided not today, lets wait to have that happen again.

Easter

This Easter was great. Ryan actually got how to hunt for eggs and was so happy when he found an egg. The only problem we had was that he wanted to open the eggs as soon as he found them and open them immediately and eat the contents--thankfully we had severall egg hunts by the end he understood.  Here are some pictures from the events......

Finding eggs in our front yard while Emma hung out on a blanket.....
Before that Ryan was finding eggs with his cousins at Guppies (GaGa's) house

Overall it was a great Easter season for us.

It was a hard easter morning as two Houston Firefighters lost their lives early that morning--which puts Mikes job into a different light-- I catch myself counting my blessings every morning that he comes home so much more now.   We are so thankful for the blessings that we have and that we know and trust that the almighty God is ultimately in control---what a reminder we had that morning. May God comfort the families and friends of the fallen firefighters.

My first Donut

The other morning Mike was coming home from work and stopped and got donuts!!! we love when daddy does that-- well we thought it was time Emma got a taste!!!

She loved the donut and kept going after it!! It was too funny.  She is now eating and we are somewhat bad parents and let her try all the good big people food! Things are different with baby number 2 and what you let them do!!

Update

I posted several events today so be sure to scroll down and look at all the new pics.  We are all doing well here in the Gomez house we are fast approaching Ryans 2nd birthday oh and mikes 30th as emma just made 5 months! Lots going on and I will try and post more frequently verse this mass posting of several events.  Hope you enjoy reading our blog.

Texas Tradition Bluebonnets

Bluebonnets are only out for a little while here in Houston so we had to take advantage.  The kids, Nana and Papa and I headed up 290 to see what would work for the first photos in bluebonnets.  We drove a ways and finally found what we thought was perfect it was a field off the road vs just the hill right along the freeway to take photos.  Ryan did okay at the beginning then he started to fall apart so I didnt get as many as I would have liked but I still got quite a few good ones.  Unfortunately Nana's camera died on us while we were there so she didnt get any, so here is a sampling of what we got--Nana was using my camera!!
The kids both looking towards us--it was really bright!!  Emma sat in here bumbo!(her feet look soo big!)
Just Emma in the bluebonnets
Ryan trying to run away in the bluebonnets but stopped to wave bye bye
Ryan being sweet and kissing Emma, however Emma looks like she could care less, she was intently studying something.   Overall it was a great time.  I look forward to the many years that I will take the kids out to do this and to the many years when they are older that they will think its torture but still do it to please mom!!

Rainy day Ryan and Dad

Well Ryan loves the water so one rainy day we dressed him in his boots and rain coat (thanks Carney's for the cute coat!) and out he went with Dad------

Running in the puddles
Watching dad try and get our sidewalk to drain
My two boys in their firefighter coats
Little ham you can barely see under there he had soo much fun

Outside Fun begins!

Since the weather has been nice we have started to enjoy the outdoors again.  I have started to let the kids play out back while I try to get things done in the kitchen.

Emma in the exersaucer with her sun hat

Ryan drinking juice with his dog Dixie

Emma napping Ryan's hat is now her sun sheild
Ryan playing with the water table from his birthday last year

Now Ryan standing in the table completely wet!
At least he still loves water and the outside.  However the bad thing about them playing outside is Ryan has learned to open the gate and escape to the front yard without my knowing--kinda scary!! We will be purchasing some kind of lock or device to keep him in the backyard.

Rodeo

We went to the rodeo this year-- we didnt see a performance we just took the kids and played.  Mike was on the committee again so he was actually down there more than us.

Some pictures----
Ryan kissing Emma

Rodeo time in the tractor
A nice High school girl let Ryan pet her cow.  She offered to let Ryan sit on the cow but Ryan was not up for that!
They had this new farm for kids that was awesome--they got to plant and grow vegetables, milk a cow, feed the chickens, pick the peaches, cut the wool off the lamb and then at the end they had to turn it all in to be sold at market!! It was really cute--Ryan loved it! Here he is getting the tomatoes that he grew--you had to plant the seed and water it then you got to pick the tomatoe
Here he is in hat and apron--my little cowboy!
The rodeo was a lot of fun! I am looking forward to the many years that we will take the kids there and as each year goes by how the things we do down there will change.
